It is opening week for a brand new gift shop on Falmouth's Prince of Wales Pier.

Kovro was opened by Paula and Mark, the owners of Koffiji Cafe (Events Square) and Karensa (Custom House Quay).

Kovro meaning "keepsake" in Cornish, sells a high percentage of handmade local gifts, offering gifts and houseware but will be moving into tourist-style gifts in the summer.

Kovro stocks products from an array of local makers, including Kernow Soap, Cornish Coastal Candles, Lucy Kemp Jewellery, and Seakisses.

Paula told Nub News:

"I used to work in logistics looking after gifts for a charity so I have always had a bit of an interest.

"We are big on the names and we love for them to have a meaning, Kovro is keepsake in Cornish, Karensa means with love, and Koffiji is caffeine. We spent hours looking for the right name and Kovro just fits really well.

"I think it was the location that drew us in, it is a bit of a different sideline for us. It has been interesting putting it all together, getting people's opinions on what they wanted to see."

Kovro is open everyday 10am-5pm.
