Falmouth G7: David Attenborough sends clear climate change message to members
The G7 is reaching its climax with one of the final meetings between world leaders including a speech from David Attenborough.
Boris Johnson welcomed leaders to the "final furlong" of the G7, thanking leaders for some great discussions throughout the summit.
The PM then invited leaders to listen to a message from David Attenborough on Climate Change, in which he said the natural world today was "greatly diminished" and the climate was climbing fast.
Attenborough continued:
"Our climate is warming fast, that is beyond doubt. Our societys and nations are equal and that sadly is plain to see. We are on the verge of destabilising out entire planet, if that is so the the decisions we make this decade are the most important. Have we truly pushed the earths system that far?
"The scientific collaboration on Covid treatment and vaccines showed just how much we can achieve together when the goal is clear and urgent.
"We know in detail what is happening to our planet. And we know all of the things we need to do during this decade.
"Tackling climate change is now as much a political and communications challenge as it is a scientific or technological one.
"We have the skills to address it in time. All we need is the global will to do so."
