Falmouth and Penryn businesses delighted to be in finals of Cornwall Tourism Awards
Businesses in Falmouth and Penryn have reacted after making the finals of the Cornwall Tourism Awards.
The 20th year of the competition has seen many tourism businesses faced with ever-changing challenges, but the focus on excellence, innovation, and resilience has remained as relevant as ever.
In fact, the 2021/22 awards have seen an increased 125 entries - with 66 selected as finalists who must now wait until Awards day on 3rd February.
Making the final stage for the second year running is Penryn sushi and ramen eatery Bango Kitchen, based on Commercial Road, in Casual Dining, Cafe, and Tearoom of the Year.
Owners Nick and Howard told Nub News:
"We were blown away to win the award last year. To now have made the final for the second year in a row is incredible and has given the whole team a massive boost.
"We've worked hard to adapt our food and service style throughout the pandemic without compromising quality and while it's been a tough challenge our team has risen to it and we couldn't be prouder of them and what we have managed to achieve with our business."
On their plans for the coming year, they added:
"This year we hope to get our restaurant fully reopened and begin to implement the many plans we had pre covid for our building - feast nights, Brunch days, gigs, and more alongside being open and welcoming our wonderful customers inside as much as possible - we've missed them."
Another local business looking forward to finals day is outdoor adventure centre Via Ferrata based in Penryn. Who were nominated in the New Tourism Business category.
A spokesperson for Via Ferrata told Nub News:
"We are over the moon to have been recognised as a top new tourism business in Cornwall. We've worked incredibly hard to bring Via Ferrata, a unique high wire adventure to Cornwall.
"It's a real delight to see it bringing so much value - not only to the public but to our launching charity BF Adventure, which receives 100% of the profits to support the continuation of their work with Cornwall's most vulnerable young people."
