An application has been lodged to get a new public water fountain in Falmouth.

The application involves the resiting of an unused water fountain at The Stable, and moving it to the front of the property.

Submitted by Falmouth Town Council, they said the re-siting and restoration of the defunct drinking fountain for reuse as a water bottle refill station contributes to Falmouth's sense of heritage and is attractive to the local community and tourists alike.

The restoration of such a community asset makes a positive contribution to the town's appearance and is also demonstrable of Falmouth Town Councils' commitment to reducing plastic waste.

How will it all work?

The existing holes in the main body of the fountain will be used to fix lifting eyes. Chains will be attached to these and then the main body will be lifted onto a flatbread truck using a lorry mounted crane.

The fountain will be taken to Rob Laurence stonemasons in Helston for renovation. Returned and reassembled in the new position once renovated, sited on a new concrete plinth. The refitting is a reverse procedure of the dismantling. The old plinth will be made good.
